I am Neil Sykes, a software developer specialising in business database systems. I’ve been doing this for around 18 years, after a career in broadcast engineering. I’ve worked for companies in many lines of business and public sector organisations.
My expertise is in Microsoft SQL Server and .NET languages (C# and Visual Basic), but I also have a lot of Unix/Linux knowledge and I still prefer to edit in white-on-black in vi. I can turn my hand to Java, Perl and other open-source environments, and I’m currently feeling my way around Ruby.
If your business systems are in a mess I can solve your problems. In particular I am good at moving and migrating data, without requiring you to buy expensive tools with obscure languages.
- If your data is all over the place and you want it organised better, give me a call.
- If your system is running like a dog (and I don’t mean a greyhound), give me a call.
